According to the information, provided by the doctors of contagious diseases hospital in Kabul, every month about 10 patients of brucellosis refer to that hospital.

Brucellosis is a bacterial disease typically affecting cattle and could easily be transferred to human, but in rural areas of Afghanistan, most of the victims of this disease are women due to dealing them with cattle.

Rona, a resident of Takhar province, who has brucellosis, says to the writer/producer of AEPO:

“I am dizzy, have undulant fever and aborted my kid before delivery.”

Physician says that in the first three months of brucellosis, patients suffer from low fever, asthma bronchitis, constipation, diarrhea, gonorrhea and pregnant woman might abort a child.

How to avoid and cure this illness?

As most of the cases of brucellosis transfer from meat, dairies and being touch with cattle, people should avoid eating raw meat, nonboiled milk, pay attention to the cleanliness of cattle’s barn and should wash their hands after each touch with cattle.

Physicians advise the pregnant women to visit a doctor because treatment of brucellosis has no side effects for them and their unborn baby.
