Some businessmen start a business but they are not able to find customers but some others take benefit from the opportunities and find more customers.

AEPO’s writer/producer had gone to Balkh province and there he has talked to Nasrin in Mazar-e-Sharif city.

Nasrin talks about her business: “I was sewing clothes and weaving carpets at home and later I and 15 other women learned in a course, held by an NGO how to cook cakes, cookies, Aikhanum (a special Afghani food) and other sweets. After passing the course, we collected 300 thousand Afghanis and we opened a factory to produce mentioned foods and sweets. We also cook Bolani (a special Afghani food) in our factory from garlic, potatoes, tomatoes and leeks. We surveyed some schools and talked to the administrations of the school about our products. They visited our factory, then they allowed us to sell Bolanis in the office of the school. We get about 1000 Afghanis to benefit from selling Bolani and we add this amount to the benefit of the other items and at the end of the month, we distribute the benefit among us.”

Sea-buckthorn Powder:

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to Ahmad Reshad Lali, a resident of Kabul city who produces the sea-buckthorn powder. Lali says about his business: “My mother was suffering from her legs pain. Someone had advised her to eat the sea-buckthorn powder. She shared the issue with me. I prepared an amount of sea-buckthorn powder and my mother ate it and her legs pain recovered with it. Then I opened a factory of producing the sea-buckthorn powder.

We buy sea-buckthorns from the gardeners and sometimes from the market too. We grind the seeds, shells and the fleshy part of sea-buckthorn together and then we pack them in special cans. At the beginning, we were producing about 50 kilograms per day but now we produce about 100 kilograms of sea-buckthorn powder. Most customers are the women who breastfeed their children and pregnant women who could not take medicines and those who are suffering from bones’ pain.”
