Infection diseases in Schools

infection Diseases could be transmitted from a sick person to a healthy one in different ways. Several contagious diseases such as jaundice, tuberculosis, cholera, leishmania, malaria, inflammation of the eye, some skin diseases and so on. Contagious diseases are more transferred to crowded places, one of which is school.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some such patients and a physician about this disease.

Sediqullah, a resident of Kabul province says: “I was sitting beside one of my classmates. He prevented me from setting beside him and told me that he is suffering from smallpox. As I was not aware of chickenpox, I did not care about it and after 3 days, I got a fever and now I am suffering from chickenpox.”

Spozhmai, a ninth-grade student, Qarabagh district, Kabul province says: “One of my classmates was sick and was sitting beside her. I caught a cold from her and now I am suffering from pneumonia as well.”

Doctor Sayed Ali, an internist at 102 beds hospital, district 11, Khairkhana Kabul city says: Infection diseases are divided into three types: Microbial(viral), bacterial and parasitic.  The common symptoms of these three types of diseases are fatigue, anorexia, and fever. Viral diseases such as measles, smallpox, jaundice, etc. Bacterial diseases such as typhoid, tuberculosis, etc.Viral diseases such as amoeba and giardia. If any of these diseases affect one of the students in the class, it might easily transfer to the other students and they might transfer this disease to his/her family members too.”

How students prevent contagious diseases in the class?

Ahmad Fazil, a student of Ghiasuddin Ghori High School, Herat province says: “I was suffering from measles and my family informed my school administration and they allowed me to rest for two weeks at home. When I went back to school, I was recovered and it did not transfer to my classmates.”

“Zuhal, an eighth-grade student, Kabul city says: “I was suffering from measles, the administration of the school allowed me to rest at home for a few days.”

A mother, a resident of Kabul city says: “When I consider that my child is suffering from a contagious disease, I contact the school administration and they allow my children to rest at home.”
