Many Afghans who are not educated think that as they are not literate so they could not find a suitable business. But some others do not care about their literacy and they have found a way to solve their economic problems.

AEPO’s writer/producer had a trip to Laghman province and there she has talked to a photographer, Tourjan.

Tourjan says about his business: “I have not studied school and I could not read and write. I was facing economic problems and decided to solve it. I bought an analog camera and I started to take pictures of my customers. Later when the analog camera left its place to the digital one, I also replaced my analog camera to a digital one.

I learned the using of digital camera from other photographers in two years and proved that those who could not read and write could also improve their economic life with his/her effort. Now I have more than 100 customers daily and I have five shops too.”

Woman shopkeeper:

AEPO’s writer/producer had also a trip to Balkh province and there she has talked to a shopkeeper, Fauzia in Mazar-e-Sharif city.

Fauzia talks about her business: “I was a teacher at one of Mazar-e-Sharif’s schools. I lost the sight of my one eye and I was not able to continue my job as a teacher. I saw that some women are selling Bolani and sweets in the women market in the city and I considered that those women need raw material, I talked to them and they want me to open a grocery shop. I sell flour, sugar, eggs and some other items in my shop. There are some women tailors in the market too and I also sell the necessary goods for them too. My monthly income reaches about 6000 thousand Afghanis.”
