Marketing Role

  Written by: Husamudding Hamdard

In Afghanistan, a number of producers, especially women could no found a suitable market for their products and they suffer financial loss but some others have found a solution to this issue. Among them is Aziza Momand, a resident of Kabul city.

Momand says about her activities: “we have two branches; products and contractual. We produce football and volleyball balls and we also sign contracts with different organizations and prepare uniforms for them. In the beginning, we were facing some problems. Once we got an order but we could not prepare it on the appointed time; they rejected the order and we suffered damage. Later we trained our workers in different workshops like how women could improve their economics, especially in handicrafts field; jewelry making, sewing clothes, etc. Now produce about 15-20 thousand balls yearly. Marketing plays an important role in establishing relationships between customers and the organizations offering products to the market. We exhibited our products in the exhibitions held in India, Dubai, New York, Latvia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.

The exhibition is very important for our marketing. We traveled to some countries such as India, Dubai, New York, Latvia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan, and exhibited our products.

Solar Powered Stoves:

AEPO’s writer/producer had traveled to Bamiyan province and there has talked to Khadim Husain, a resident of Ghoorab village, Saighan district, Bamiyan province who is manufacturing solar-powered stoves.

Khadim Husain says: “I considered that most people of our village are poor and could not use electric stoves, so I decided to manufacture solar-powered stoves from the TV dish antenna and mirrors to reflect the sun rays. Some NGOs are also manufacturing solar-powered stoves but they use cement boards instead of TV dishes.  I could manufacture 1-2 solar-powered stoves daily. I spend about 1800 Afghanis per stove and I sell it for 2500 Afghanis. This stove is used for heating water and cooking bread. I also make big solar-powered stoves for cooking foods.”
