Second Lane:

Safia and Shafiq are talking about the warmth of the season and asks each other about the fruits grow in this season.

Peddler arrives and they welcome him. Peddler asks about their business. Shafiq says that they were talking about the warmth of season but they do not know the name of this season. Peddler says that the second season of the solar year is summer which has three months and many kinds of fruits ripe in the summer including the watermelon. Then the peddler brings out a watermelon from the bag and gives it to the children to eat it he asks them to drop the rinds of it in the garbage otherwise the ants might gather on them.

Shafiq says that he remembers a joke about the ant. Peddler asks him to tell it to him. Shafiq says the following joke:  "first boy: which animal is more powerful? second boy: the ant is more powerful.  First boy: How? Second boy: One day an ant entered into a socket in our house; when I was entered my finger into the socket, the ant pushed me so hard that I was to die!"

The peddler likes the joke and he wants the children to learn more joke for the next time and he goes to the other lane.

Peddler congrats her and asks about the number of her bangles. Mariam says that they 12 pieces. Peddler says that bangles and some other objects are counted by dozen.

Shafiq asks what kind of objects are called dozen. Peddler says that 6 or sometimes 12 objects with the same characteristics are called dozen like a dozen of glasses or a dozen of spoons and forks. Mariam asks that could she call a dozen of safety matches or not. Peddler says yes. Shafiq says that he has heard about the dozen of sewing thread.
