Afghanistan is one amongst the poorest countries in the world. Poverty is widespread in rural and urban areas and women are more affected by poverty.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked Raheema Hajizada, a resident of Kabul city.

Hajizada says about her activities: “I started my activity in jewelry making, tailoring, and engraving. At the beginning, I faced loss because I did not have vocational training and did not know anything about the regulations and rules. I shared my problems with some other women and they told me to take part in workshops and seminars regarding my activity.

In those workshops, I learned how to start an economic activity; getting orders; taking and paying back loans, and now some other women are also busy at work with me.”

Work According to Ability:

Some Afghans lose one or more organs of their bodies but some of them do not lose their ability to work.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to Najeebullah, a resident of Ahmad Shah Baba Mena, district 16 of Kabul city.

Najeebullah says: “I was working as a turner, but when I lost my one eye and one leg 20 years ago, I was not able to continue my previous work, then I started to design fences for houses. I search for different varieties of fence designs on the internet and I bring some changes in it and then I sketch them on a piece of paper first and then I show the samples to the customers. I get 10 Afghanis per meter fence design and also work as a clerk in a school too and I could solve my economic problems.”
