What is a Square?

Fazela is busy in drying some lines on the ground. Her brother, Shahab asks about the lines Fazela says that she is drying a square. Shahab doesn’t know what square is. Peddler arrives and after greeting them, Shahab asks him about the square.

Peddler brings out a box from his bag. There were some bangles in the box. Peddler asks them about the shapes of bangles and the box. Fazela says that the shape of bangles is as a circle and the shape of the box is as a square.

Peddler appreciates Fazela but Shahab did not understand the shape of the square. Peddler says that a square has four equal sides and four equal angles and then he   gives four matches stick to Fazila and four sticks to Shahab and asks them to connect straightly the sticks' tips to each other. They did. Peddler says that these are the shapes of the square because all the sizes of the sticks are equal.

Shahab says that the kerchief of the peddler is also a square. Peddler accepts and gives a rural to them to draw four equal lines on the ground and connect the corners of the lines to each other and make squares and he goes to another alley.

Second Lane:

Shafiqa says to Farid that she has learned a new joke and she would tell it to the peddler. Meanwhile, peddler arrives and they greet him. Farid says to the peddler that Shafiqa wants to tell a new joke. Peddler asks her to tell the joke. Shafiqa says: “one day two lazy boys were laying under a tree. One of them yawned. The other lazy boy asked that as he had already opened his mouth for yawning, it would be better to call to his friend, Asghar to bring him a glass of water.

Peddler likes the joke and gives them a Carrom board and he asks the shape of the board. Shafiqa says it has four corners but the peddler says that it has the shape of a  square. Farid says that he has learned a poem about square. Peddler asks him to tell it to the other children too and he goes to the alley of the story.

Third Lane:

Sami and Maryam are waiting in the alley for the peddler to come and tell them the second part of the story of “Contaminated Water”.

The sound of flutes comes from the alley. Sami says to Maryam that the peddler is coming toward them. Peddler arrives and they warmly greet him. Mayam asks the peddler to tell them the next part of the story of “Contaminated Water”.

Peddler asks them the previous part of the story. They say that in the previous part Fahim was crying and went home. Her mother asked him the reason. Fahim said that his body is burning and itching. Fahim’s sister, Sana said to her mother that her father is not at home to take Fahim to the doctor. Fahim’s mother saw that small rashes appeared on Fahim’s body. Meanwhile, Fahim’s father came and Sana shared the issue with him. Fahim’s father, mother, and his sister took Fahim to the clinic.

Peddler says the second part of the story as follows:

Contaminated Water: part two

The doctor asked Fahim’s father that what has Fahim eaten. Fahim’s father says that they always drink clean water and avoid any contaminated foods. the doctor said that some other children were also transferred to the clinic and they had the same problem. Fahim’s mother asks the doctor if Fahim would recover. The doctor assured her that Fahim would get better but do not forget to take his medicines on time. The doctor dismissed Fahim from the clinic.”
