Most of the women in Afghanistan do their house chores and men are working outside the houses. Some of the men of such families are not able to fulfill all the necessities of their house alone.

Hamid is the owner of a restaurant in Kabul city and has found a solution to this problem. The writer/producer AEPO has talked to him.

Hamid says:

At the beginning, I had a taxi and my wife was teaching in a school. We were facing many economic problems. Then we decided to open a restaurant together. We started our work with 200000 Afghanis. We bought second-hand utensils and furniture for our restaurant because these items were cheaper than the new ones.

We work from 6 am to 8 pm. I prepare the raw materials and my wife prepare Manto, Ashak, and Bolani (special Afghan dishes) and I help her in cooking. We have two children my mother-in-law keeps care of them. our life is much better than before.

The Greenhouses:

Mohammad Hashim Wardak has built greenhouses in Kabul, Ghazni and Parwan provinces.

Mohammad Hashim says: Before I had a construction company and could not get any benefit from it and then I built some greenhouses with my friends' help. I almost spent about 2 million and 500 thousand Afghanis on these greenhouses. As I know that the prices of tomato, cucumber and strawberry increase during winter, I decided to grow these plants. I get tomato crops just for three months but strawberry and cucumber yield for the four seasons of the year.

The outcomes of my greenhouses are 10 times more than the farmers’ outcomes and so is the benefit.

our customers are the owners of supermarkets, fruit markets shopkeepers and some institutions.
