Abdul Rahman Oman Niazai, a resident of Kabul city is a painter and a radio journalist, who paints and make wheat straws tableaus. He says:

One day, I saw a tableau of Gardiz Fort in one of the shops in Kabul city which was made from wheat straws. I liked it very much. I asked the shopkeeper about the making of it but he did not know. Then I learned from another person who was making tableaus from wheat straws, and then I contacted some Chinese painters and we shared our experiences.

I have made about 400 pieces of tableaus and paintings. I have about 30-35 years experiences in painting and have started making tableaus from wheat straws about 16 years back. Most of my artworks are sold in exhibitions in Kabul.

Hope in Work :

As any business has benefit, it has loss and disadvantage too. Some people, who go bankrupt in business and lose their income, become disappointed and leave their works. but some people resume their works and reach their goals.

Writer/producer AEPO has talked to Rahimullah, a resident of Khak-e-Jabar, district of Kabul province.

Rahimullah says: about 10-12 years back, I had a shop of second-hand shoes. One-day, due to the neglect of our neighboring shopkeeper, a gas cylinder blast and burnt all shops in the market including mine.

Rahimullah added: I had no money to start another job but I didn’t lose my hope. I borrowed some money and bought some pairs of second-hand shoes again. I started selling the shoes in a cart in front of my ruined shop. After passing some time, I gained some money and rebuilt my shop; paid my loans back; bought a piece of land and built my own house.
