Protection of Playground Equipment

Roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, and amusement parks are all public places and every citizen can take benefit of them but sometimes some people neglect to pay attention to the protection of these places especially parks and their equipment.

Some children cause the destruction of this equipment and toys and cause problems for others.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Muhammad Asim, a resident of Baghlan province says, “I always go to the park during Eid. One Eid day, I went to the park and when I sat on the slide and released myself from the top of it, as the lower part of the slide was broken, I fell on the ground; broke my nose and injured my leg.”

Hawa, a resident of Maidan Wardak Province, says: "Once I went to the park to play with my friends. When I wanted to swing, the swing’s chain was broken and I could not swing. I saw that most of the equipment was broken and I returned home.”

What do some people think about the causes of breaking of parks’ toys and other equipment?

Abdul Qudos, a resident of Nangarhar province says, “Some parents are indifferent to park equipment. They think that these tools and toys do not belong to them, and if a child breaks one of these toys, they neither stop nor teach him the importance of taking care of these tools."

Muhammad Tariq, a resident of Paktia province says, “When some families go to parks, they do not teach their children not break the park’s toys and other equipment. These issues will be reduced If the authorities of the parks fine anyone who breaks the toy or anything else in the park.”

How to some people solve this issue?

Muhammad Zaman, a resident of Shakardara district of Kabul province says, “I have taken my children to the park. Before coming to the park, I warned them not to destroy the park equipment. I told them that if they break a toy in the park, he won't take them to the park next time.”

Roya, a 5th grade student, says, "I have come to the park with my mother. When I come to the park, I try not to damage or break the park equipment. I sit on the swing. I take care the rope of the swing not be cut. If it cuts, I and other children might not able to take benefit of swing.”
