The boys said that the lessons are so difficult that they could not learn them. The King said that he would ask them a simple question. If they answer it, he would show them a spell and they all would pass the exam, or if not, they have to apologize for books. The boys accepted. The king told them a part of a famous story of their school book. The story was started as follow:

once upon a time, there was an old man living in a village.  When it was the last day of his life, he called his sons to come near. He gave a bundle of sticks to each of them if they could break. Each of them tried but were not able to break it….

The king asked the boys to complete the story. They tried their best but could not complete the story and said that they had not faced with such story in their books yet.

A book asked them to open its pages. When they opened the book, they found the whole story. They completed the story as follow:

The old man separated the sticks and gave them a stick to each of them. They broke it easily. The old man said: if you were united, no one would be able to defeat you, or if you are separated, you would be defeated easily.

Mirwais, Kamal, and Abid accepted their fault and apologized for the books and promised to study their lessons.
