Recklessness during Motorbike Riding

With low consumption of fuel, the motorbike could go anywhere in any situation, but if the rider does not pay attention while riding, he endangers his own life and the lives of others. AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Zabto khan, a resident of Kabul city says, “Once an accident took place in our area. A motorbike crashed with a course of bricks. One of the two riders died and the other got a deep injury.”

Mudasir, a resident of Laghman province says, “My cousin was riding a motorbike with two other boys. A car hit the motorbike. My cousin broke his leg and the other riders were badly injured. We spent about 600 thousand Afghanis on the treatment of the casualties.”

What do some people think about the causes of motorbike crashes?

Muhammad, a resident of Kabul city says, “I was riding fast my motorbike on the wrong side of the road and I hit my bike with a Suzuki car. I broke my hand. I paid 7000 Afghanis to the owner of Suzuki and I faced about 70 thousand Afghanis loss.”

Muhammad Farouq, a resident of Company area, district 5 of Kabul city says, “I was riding my motorbike from Ghazni bus stop toward Qala-e-Kashif area but there was a truck parked in front of me and a bus was coming toward me, as I a had high speed, so I could not control my motorbike; I fell on the ground and broke my hand. This issue caused by my high- speed and riding on the wrong side of the road.”

How can some motorbike riders prevent accidents during motorbike riding?

Khoshal, a resident of Mirwaismaidan, district 5 of Kabul city says, “I am always riding a motorbike and I have not faced any accident during riding motorbike. I take care during riding motorbike; wear eyeglasses and helmet; I ride slowly if there is a crowd of people and pay attention to traffic regulations and I do not let the second person rides with me on my motorbike.”

Iqbal, a resident of Saleem Khan’s village, Farza district of Kabul province says, “I have a motorbike, If it’s needed, I ride more than two passengers on my motorbike but I ride my motorbike with caution on the right side of the road and look other vehicles on the side mirror and my motorbike speed doesn’t exceed more than 25 miles per hour.”
