Cold Weather

Khalid was a boy, living in a green village. One winter day, when snow was falling, his father brought a pair of new shoes for Khalid. Khalid put on his shoe and left home for playing.

After a few minutes, Khalid came back home. As his shoes were wet, he put them over a stove; and went out barefoot for playing.

When he came back from playing, he saw that his new shoes were burned.

On the other hand, Khalid’s family was going to his aunt’s house. Khalid was very sad that his new shoes were burnt.

When his sister, Zarmena entered the room, she sensed a bad smell of burnt rubber. She asked Khalid about it. Khalid told her that his new shoes burned on the stove.

Zarmena said that they want to go to her aunt’s house and Khalid doesn’t have shoes and his father would not take him without shoes.

Khalid became very sad because he loved his cousins but his shoes were burnt and he could not go there.

Suddenly Khalid put on his burnt shoes with difficulties and left the house. Zarmena went behind him. Zarmena asked that where he wanted to go. Khalid replied that he wants to borrow his cousin’s shoes.

Khalid and Zarmena reached their uncle’s house and when they knocked on the door, a dog barked and they ran away. Khalid fell in the mud and muddied his new clothes and then came back home.

Zamena asked him that how could he go to his aunt’s house then.

Khalid went again and said that he would solve his problem.

Meanwhile, Khalid’s father came home and wanted Zamena and her mother to get ready for going to her aunt’s home. Khalid’s father asked about Khalid. Zarmena told him the whole story.

Khalid’s father went out to find Khalid. Khalid came back and told to Zarmena that he found his old shoes from the hayroom.

His father came back and blamed Khalid for not taking care of his shoe.

They went to Khalid’s aunt's house. Khalid said to his cousins to take care of their shoes otherwise they might face problems like him.
