Some women living in cities are engaged in economic activities but such activities are not common for women in rural areas so that they might face economic problems.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to Aziza who found a solution to this issue.

Aziza talks about her business, “I was sewing clothes with my brother at home and when I got married, we faced economic problems at my new home. My husband is a mechanic and his income cannot fulfill our home necessities.

One day one of our neighbors came to our home and said that she had gone to a lady tailor but she was not at home. I told her that if she wants, I can sew her dress. She became happy and gave me the cloth  for sewing. She suggested that if I install a signboard of ladies tailoring on my home gate, I would find more customers. I did so and I sewed about 30 pieces of the dress last Eid and got 8000 Afghanis benefit and fulfilled my all needs.”

Repairing electrical appliances:

Some people wait for customers to come to their shops but sometimes due to different causes the customers do not go to the shops. Some businessmen found a solution to this issue.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to Haikal, a resident of Kabul city.

Haikal talks about his business, “When I was in a foreign country, I learned the repairing of electrical appliances and when I came back to Afghanistan, I opened an electrical appliance repairing workshop. Few customers were bringing their electrical appliances to my workshop and I was not able to pay the fare of the shop.

Later I started mobile electrical appliances repairing. I go lane by lane and repair electrical appliances and I get about 500 Afghanis to benefit daily.”
