Observing regulations in Hospital

Written by: Mir Aqa Etibar

A large number of patients go to the hospital for treatment. Some of them are discharged after examination and medication , and some need continuous treatment and they should stay in the hospital for a few days.

Relatives and friends of patients go to the hospital to visit their patients, but some of them, without considering the hospital regulations, disturb the patients and hospital staffs, which causes problems for patients and hospital staffs.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people regarding this issue.

Doctor Ahmad Jawid Naqshbandi, a physician at Indira Gandhi Children's Health Hospital in Kabul city talks about this issue, “No one should speak loudly in the hospital, even the Horn of cars is forbidden, but some attendants who come with patients to the hospital speak loudly on mobile phones besides the patient's bed. They also use the  patient's bed for sitting or sleeping, or some people stay with patient even from the morning until late in the evening, which creates problems for patients and the hospital staff.

If we ask the attendants not to make trouble, they threaten us with unpleasant words.”

Farmanullah, a resident of Parwan province says, “We have only one hospital in our area. For those who have more power, if some become sick, about four attendants accompany their patient to the hospital. The way from our village to the hospital is dusty and when it rains, the attendants go to the hospital with their muddy shoes and they make dirty the surface of the hospital and it might cause some respiratory diseases to some patients.”

What do some people think about the causes of this issue?

Ahmad Wali, a resident Nijrab district, Kapisa province says, “If any of our relatives admit into a hospital, the husband takes his wife to visit the patient at the hospital, we prepared him/her some dishes and take them to the hospital.”

Shukria says, “As I don’t have anyone to take care of children, I take them to the hospital when I want to visit our patient.”

What should be considered when attendants visit their patients in the hospital?

Shakiba, a resident of Qarabagh district, Kabul province says, “When I was admitted into the hospital, if anyone was coming and visiting me, I got happy but they pay attention to the regulations of the hospital. They do not speak loudly and nor cause trouble for other patients and doctors and they were not staying for a long time in the hospital.”

Doctor Ramiz Rayan, a physician at Sardar Muhammad Daoud Hospital, Kabul city talks about the solution for this issue, “We are not in favor of the attendants not coming to the hospital, but they should consider some points after interring into the hospital. They should not take children to the hospital; they should avoid touch or sit on the patient’s bed, should pay attention to the cleanliness of their body and clothes, do not make noise, and avoid loud laughter, because the patient will suffer.”
