Knee pain

The bones of the human body are affected by various factors, including knee pain. AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people and a physician about this disease.

Khan Sayed, a resident of Nangarhar province says, “I am 55 years old and it’s the third year I have been suffering from knee pain. I feel more pain in cold weather and the pain increases when I walk or go to sleep.”

A woman from Khost province says, “I am suffering from knee pain. I suffer more from pain when I do my prayers or walk.”

Doctor Wahidullah Muhammadi, an orthopedist at one of the private hospitals in Kabul city says, “Swelling and stiffness; redness and warmth to the touch; weakness or instability; crunching noises and inability to fully straighten the knee are the signs of knee pain. Adult and aged people suffer more from knee pain.”

What do some people think about the causes of knee pain?

Lal Muhammad Rahimi, a resident of Ghazni province says, “Those who are inactive or sit for an extended time, might experience knee pain; not having physical exercises, they might suffer from knee pain.”

Hazratullah Zazai says, “I have been working for a long time in standing position and it caused me knee pain.”

Doctor Muhammadi says, “Knee pain in an adult might cause by a trauma. Trauma has two types; The first one is sitting in the wrong position for a long period, which could cause pain by putting pressure on the kneecap; lifting heavy weights and hardworking bring the knee under pressure and cause to reduce knees life. Traffic accident could also cause knee pain and joint rheumatoid in aged people could also cause knee pain.”

How some patients treat knee pain at home?

A woman from Khost province says, “When I feel pain in my knee, I rub Vicks or olive oil into it. Sometimes this remedy works and sometimes it’s not useful.”

Khan Sayed says, “When I feel more from knee pain, I put a hot brick on my knee and it reduces the pain but not heal forever.”

Doctor Muhammadi says, “Applying Vicks; olive oil; hot or cold onto the affected knee, might reduce pain but for the essential treatment, the patient should go to the doctor.”
