Family Members Collective work

In most of the families in Afghanistan, one or two members have a job and provide all expenditures and needs of the home. Most of the time they could not fulfill all of the necessities of the family. They have to borrow some money from others and at the end, they could not be able to pay it back.

The writer/producer of AEPO has talked to Shagofa Alizai, a resident of Kabul city, who has found a solution to this problem.

Shagofa says: we shifted from Mazar province to Kabul eight years back. At the beginning, we faced many economic problems. As I had learned how to cook Shir Pira( special sweets made from milk and sugar)from my father in Mazar-e-Sharif, I and all of my family members decided to prepare Shir Pira and noodles for selling.

We borrowed some money from a bank and bought a cooking machine of Shir Pira. At the beginning, we didn’t have a good market for our products but later on, we found many customers.

Two daughters of my brother-in-law pack the products and the wife of my brother-in-law and her husband help us in selling them.

At the end of each month, we calculate our benefit, separate the expenses of our home and repay an amount of bank loan and also earn a small amount of money.
