Some schools are near to roads and some drivers do not pay attention to the speed of their vehicles, and they cause some issues to the students.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some students and drivers about this issue.

Jahanzeb, a resident of Qarabagh district, Kabul province says, “A car hit a student in front of the school of our village. The driver stopped his car. Another car driver saw that the car driver was his relative, he asked the villagers to let the driver to go and he promised that he would pay the compensation. The villagers left the suspected driver and beat his relative until he died.”

Hayat Zhwand, a resident of Logar province says, “Last year, a car hit my brother’s classmate and later the wounded boy died of his wound.”

What do the people think about the causes of such issues?

Malyar, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “There are two causes of such accidents. The first one is the carelessness of the student that they do not pay attention to both sides of the road when the cross it and the second one is the carelessness of the drivers. They drive at a high speed in front of the schools.”

Wakil Ahmad, a resident of Ghazni province says, “Most of the students that face such problems, are small and they do not pay attention to the road when they go to school or go back from school to homes and if the car or bike owners do not pay attention, an accident might take place.”

How do people solve such problems?

A taxi driver, Baz Muhammad says, “I have not faced any accident in front of schools because I know that school children could take care during crossing the road. I drive slowly near the schools.”

Qudratullah, a resident of Paktia province says, “I have a motorbike, and when I reach near a school, I reduce the speed of my motorbike and I have not committed such crime.”
