Coronavirus and Quarantine

COVID-19 is primarily transmitted from symptomatic people to others who are in close contact through respiratory droplets, by direct contact with infected persons, or by contact with contaminated objects and surfaces.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people and a physician about the importance of quarantine during the coronavirus.

A girl, Zarmina, a resident of Laghman province says, “My cousin was affected with coronavirus and she had not considered the quarantine requirements and finally she died of coronavirus.

I had did not pay attention to the health tips that the Ministry of Health Afghanistan was announcing and I also got coronavirus. I was in trouble for more than a month. My family members were not paying attention to the quarantine and they all got coronavirus too.”

Doctor Faridullah Omari, a physician at Maula Ali Hospital, Kabul city says, “If someone does not pay attention to the regulations of quarantine; they participate in a public gathering like funeral and wedding ceremonies and he/she do not use facemask and hand sanitizer, they might get coronavirus easily. He/ she might transfers this virus to his/her family and friends and they might also get coronavirus.”

How do people consider quarantine regulations?

Barakatullah, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “When the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan announces quarantine for the first time, we all applied all the regulations and no one has gone out of the home with any obligatory need and none of us has experienced coronavirus disease yet.”

A girl from Qarabagh district, Kabul province says, “One our relative died and my father wanted to participate in his funeral ceremony but I convinced him not go to the funeral and I told him about the transferring of coronavirus to him and then to the all members of our family.”

Doctor Omari talks about the main points of quarantine during the disease of Covid-19.

Omari says, “We should stay at home; keep distance from others; be away from sick people; avoid participating in any kind gatherings; one member of the family should prepare the needs of the house; he/she should have a pair of clothes for going out and when he/she comes back, he/she should replace the clothes; washes hand many times a day with soap and clean water, and avoid hugging and kissing each other and so on.”
