Calling Children inappropriate Names

Choosing the right name for children is the responsibility of the parents, but some parents call their children inappropriate names, which causes problems later.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Amina Khan, a resident of Nangarhar province says, “When I was a child, my parents were calling me fat and I was feeling myself worthless. Now I am not fat but some of my friends still call me fat.”

Maiwand, a resident of Farza district, Kabul province says, “One of my friends is a little black and he has a big stomach. His friends call him blackface and glutton and he quarrels when calling him this name.”

What do people think about the causes of this issue?

Ameer Hamza says, “Once one of my friends said to me that I look like intoxicated with bang. After that day, my other friends call executed to bang.

Maiwand says, “Some parents call their children cute names which cause some problems later.”

How do people solve the problem of inappropriate names?

Muhammad Reza, a resident of Shakardara district, Kabul province says, “I am the father of 5 children and we call them on their real names. When one of my children wants to call his/her brother/sister inappropriate name, I prevent him/her and tell him/her about the bad consequences of inappropriate names in the future.”

Abdul Shah, a resident of Kabul city says, “We are 3 brothers living in a single house. One of my brothers has 6 children I am the father of 2 children. We have prevented the members of our families from calling inappropriate names to their children.”
