Allergy with Chemicals

There are plenty of dangerous summer bugs they can run into, and an all-over dousing will keep them and you safe. The active chemicals in bug sprays can last for more than a year indoors, but sometimes these sprays cause some problems.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Frishta, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “My brother had sprayed the room. When I entered the room, I sensed a bitter smell. I became drowsy and after a few minutes I felt nausea and suffered from headache.”

Ahmad Shafi, a resident of Kapisa province says, “Once in the summer, I was to spray the room and I did not use facemask. I felt that my hands and face were burning and some red spots appeared on my hands.”

An internist, Doctor Haseebullah Wardak talks about this issue, “Inhalation of spray mist or dust from pesticides might cause throat irritation, sneezing, and coughing. Chronic exposures to lower concentrations of fungicides could cause adverse health effects and even could cause the death of the person.”

What do people think about the causes of chemicals allergy?

Abdul Khalil, a resident of Kabul city says, “We spray our homes and trees but we don’t know about the hazardous of chemicals for health.”

Ms. Amarkhail, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “As the sprays affect on bugs, these chemicals could also badly affect on humans too.”

Doctor Amir Badashah, the director of Ibne Senna Hospital, Kabul city says, “Pesticides are poisons and, unfortunately, they could harm more than just the pests. They are toxic, and exposure to pesticides could cause a number of health effects. They are linked to a range of serious illnesses and diseases from respiratory problems to cancer.’

How people help if someone face health problems during spraying?

Frishta says, “My father gave me a glass of dough and juice and I got better. Then he took me to a doctor for treatment.”

Ahmad Shafi says, “I left spraying and I washed my hands and face with soap and water and then I took a shower and got better.”

Doctor Wardak says, “If someone faces with health problems during spraying, we should take the effected person out the room to open air and wash his/her and hands and face with water and soap. Lemon or orange juices are useful in this case.”

Doctor Amir Badshah says, “Liquids and energy foods are useful in this case. The solution of sugar is also useful. If the person suddenly becomes unable to respond to stimuli and appears to be asleep, he/she should be slept on the left side. Brings out his/her tongue; open his/her respiratory tract and avoid eating and drinking in such cases and take the person to a hospital.”
