As home war in Afghanistan takes the lives of thousands of citizens each year, highways and streets are also witnesses of many traffic accidents.

According to the information, provided by Kabul traffic department, from the beginning of solar year 1391 to the end of 1394, about 5623 civilians have lost their lives due to traffic accidents and 17,004 others injured.

A man says to the writer/producer of AEPO: “My family was traveling in a small car, while the driver wanted to overtake another vehicle, a truck came from the front side and accident took place. The gas balloon in the car burnt and took the lives of a kid and a woman.”

Ghulam Jilani Wardak, one of the instructors at Kabul traffic department says: “Most of the accidents are taking place due to the negligence of drivers. Some of them do not pay attention to traffic regulations; drive full light on one-way street at night; overtake another vehicle during high speed; drive during drunkenness, have over speed and so on.

If drivers and pedestrians obey traffic regulations, the number of traffic accidents would be decreased automatically.
