Threatening Children by Teachers

School is called the second home of the children and the relation between teachers and students is connected through effective teaching.

Most teachers in primary classes try to teach his/her students regularly but there are some teachers that threat students and this might face the children with physical and psychological problems.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Fawzia, a resident of Herat province says: “My brother was a fifth-grade student. One day his teacher had badly beaten him and he did not go to school anymore. He faced psychological problems. He always sits alone and does not want to talk to anyone. My other brother bought him a computer and school books and I help him in the school books at home but he could learn well.”

A psychologist, Zuhra Waleed talks about this issue: “Those children who threatening in school, they might face psychological problems like isolation and mental problem. They could not learn their school lessons; hate teachers and elders and they might become offenders and commit crimes.”

Child mental and physical abuse is prohibited by article 6 of education law and the perpetrators of this issue should relieve from their jobs.

What do people think about the causes of child threatening?

Sayeda Akrampour says: “Some teachers are not capable of teaching and they threaten students.”

Another girl, who doesn’t want to mention her name, says: “I am sure that the teachers who threaten children are not well-educated and some of them might have the experiences of such issues during his/her studying and they take revenge from their students.”

Zuhra Waleed says: “I think they are not aware of the negative aspects of threatening children and they might have encountered this kind of behavior in childhood. Unawareness of law and not knowing about curriculum also causes some teachers to thread the students.”

How do Families, other teachers and school administration could prevent this issue?

A principal of a school in Mazar-e-Sharif city, Balkh province says: “We have talked to our students that if they face any kind threat in their classes, they share it with the administration and then we talk to the teacher/teachers and find the solution for it.”

A teacher, Zarghona Rasoli says: “We exchange our opinions about this issue. If we face any event of child threat, we have a special room and the principal talks to the teacher and find a solution to this issue.”
