Many schools in the villages of Afghanistan do not have buildings because the residents of that area do not want to donate a piece of their land to school and this issue creates problems for the students.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Hamdullah, a resident of Farza district, Kabul province says: “our villagers do not give a piece of land for the school and we did not have a school in our village. I had been crossing three villages to reach to my school. I was getting tired and was always falling asleep in the classroom and I could not learn my school lessons.”

Guldasta, a resident of Parwan province says: “the school was far from our village and my parents did not allow me to go to school and now I am illiterate.”

How could people solve this issue?

Tamim Afzali, a resident of Paktia province says: “there are many schools in Gardiz city but we live far from the city. The residents of our village do not allow their girls to go to schools which are located far from the village. I am a landowner and I decided to find a solution to this issue. I talked to my family I donated two acres of my land for the school. Then I share the issue with the ministry of education and they built a school on the donated land and the problem of school girls of our village is solved now.”

Bilal Ahmad, a resident of Surkhrod district, Nangarhar province says: “at the beginning, we were studying in a mosque. My grandfather is a landowner and the villagers asked to donate a piece of his land to school and he donated 2 acres of his land to the school and the government built a school on it."
