Women Education and Professional Centers for Preventing Crimes

Theft and breaking law could occur in any country. Poverty and unemployment cause some Afghan women to break law and commit a crime and this issue causes problems in society.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to a goldsmith in Kabul city. He says: “one day, 4 women came to my shop and they had a child with them. The women made me busy and the child stole a piece of jewelry and passed it to her mother and after a few minutes, they left the shop without purchasing. When my partner came and saw that a chain was missing from the showcase, he shared the issue with me. I checked the security camera and saw that what had happened.”

How to prevent these misfortunes?

AEPO’s writer/producer had a trip to Nangarhar province and there he had a visit from an education and professional center for women.

At the beginning, he has talked to Khomari, one the participants of the center. Khomari says: “My husband is sick and he could not work and he has two wives and we were facing economic problems. One of our neighbors told me about this center. I came to the center and they surveyed our home, and then they accepted me in the center. I learn writing, reading, and tailoring in this center. They pay me the fare, and I spend it on home expenses.

I have learned reading, writing, cutting and sewing any kind dress in four months and I would graduate from the center after the completion of 6 months. Some women are so poor that they have to commit a crime and fulfill their homes’ necessities. If they learn a professional, they would
