According to the information, provided by Kabul Central Policlinic, about 1033 rabies are registered in that polyclinic last year.

In Afghanistan, most of the women and children are victims of rabies because they cannot run away from dogs as others can.

A physician in a private hospital in Kabul city says to the writer/producer of AEPO:

“There are two types of rabies: paralytic and non-paralytic. 70% cases are non-paralytic 30% of cases are paralytic.

Some changes are seen in the manner of patients as: Increasing of saliva, insomnia, slurred speech, dizziness, tingling at the site of exposure and distress are the common symptoms of this disease.

The paralysis gradually changes to general paralysis and causes the death of the patient.

A vaccinator says that if the patient does not apply the vaccine of rabies on time, he/she might become crazy and would die.

New born dogs should be vaccinated after six weeks of their birth and other dogs after each three months, otherwise if the dog has any illness, it can be easily transferred to human being.
