n Afghanistan, there are many people who do not have a good income and live below the poverty line because they do not get sufficient daily or monthly income to drive their lives as they want. In the same time, there are some people who have low salaries and are struggling to improve their lives and earn more. Sometimes ago, AEPO’s writer/producer had a trip to Kandahar and there he has talked to a woman, Farah Hamesh, who teaches in a private school and also has tried to improve her economic condition in another way.

Farah Hamesh says: “I started my work as a teacher in a private school and had 5 thousand Afghanis salary. This amount of salary was not fulfilling me all necessities and I wanted to take benefit of my skill. I have five rooms in my house. I opened an education course for elementary students in one of my house’s rooms one year ago. about 30 boys and girls enrolled in the course. I teach them mathematics and English language.  Each student pays me about 300-400 Afghanis monthly fees. I go to school from 7 am to 12 at noon and I teach the students in the course from 3 pm-5 pm. After opening these classes, I could solve my all economic problems.”

Business License:

A merchant, Ahmad Zia, a resident of Kabul city says: “at the beginning, I did not have a business license and when the investigators came and they checked that I did not have a business license, they closed my office and then I paid for the license and they issued me business license.”

Qasim, a company owner in Kabul city says: “once a contractor wanted us to prepare goods for him and that contract had a great benefit for me but as I did not have the license, the contractor purchased the same goods from another company.”

Musfir Qoqandi, the spokesperson of the ministry of commerce and Industry of Afghanistan says: “When the merchants import their goods to the country, and if they don’t have a business license, they would face many problems. Their goods could not prosses custom clearance and the merchants would not be able to introduce their goods to the market, and they could not start their activities because there is no unlicensed business and work allowed in Afghanistan. Ministry of commerce and industry has provided facilities to those who are eager to work and those who have the business license could easily import and export goods and take benefit of these facilities.”

Musfir Quqandi says about the process of business license: “each Afghan, who has completed 18, could get a business license and starts the activity. If the applicant seeks to obtain an individual license, he/she should have Afghan nation identity card(Tazkira) two passport size photos and a request with the identification of the place where he/she wants to start his/her activity. He/she would refer to the Central Office of Registry and then he/she would pass five short steps and he/she might not spend more than 2 thousand Afghanis. In the first step, the order is issued, and then the company name is displayed in the computer, which should not be repeated, and in the third step, the form is completed, and in the fourth step, the license is printed and in the final step, the money would be transferred to the bank and applicant would get the license.
