Most urban residents know the use of electric appliances but some rural residents, especially their children are not well aware of the dangers of electricity and they might face some problems.

AEPO’s Writer/producer has talked to some people about this issue.

Ilyas, a resident of Shakardara district, Kabul province says: “. One day my aunt’s grandson was alone at home, he had touched the electric wire and he died.

Zainab, a resident of Paghman district, Kabul province says: “my cousin was alone at home and she had entered her finger in a socket and she had gotten an electric shock. She was suffering from pain in her hand for several days.”

The causes of electric shocks:

Zainab says: “the negligence of some families causes their children to play with electrical appliances.”

Gheyasuddin, a resident of Shakardara district says: “most children consider electricity as a mean of light; therefore, they face some problems. It is the job of the families to inform their children about the dangers of electricity and they should take care of them.”

An electric expert, Mubarakshah Miakhail says: “There are two electrical safety rules at home, the first one is keeping electrical appliances away from children; always check the sockets and wires and repair the damaged wire or electric appliances on time by an electrician. Turn off the power fuse while leaving the house and the second rule is Public awareness. The family members, especially women and children should be aware of the danger of electricity.”
