Sometimes it’s needed to bring some medicines or chemicals to home but we have to keep them in a safe place, otherwise, they might cause some problems for our children.

AEPO's Writer/producer has talked to some people in about this issue.

Hamidullah, a resident of Shakardara district, Kabul province says: “once my uncle had sprayed some trees and had put the extra chemicals on the window. His small daughter had drunk it instead of drinking water, and after a few minutes, she died.”

Aqebullah, a resident of Farza district, Kabul province says: “our neighbor’s child had drunk battery acid and it damaged his stomach. His father took him to the hospital and the doctor washed his stomach.”

How could people keep medicines of children's reach?

Hamidullah says: “We are the witnesses of a bad incident of not keeping medicines and chemical out of children’s reach. Now I and my all villagers always pay attention to the medicines and chemicals. When we use some medicines, we put them out of reach of children and almost we put them in a cabinet and lock them.”

Askar Khan, another resident of Farza district says: "Once my had mixed arsenic in some bread and she had put it under a table. I saw it and told to my wife not put chemicals in a place that children could easily get them and now she always keeps these things in a safe place”
