Parents are responsible to choose a proper name for their kid because of good name effects on child’s personality. Some families in Afghanistan choose proper names for their kids but later they give them bad nicknames.

The writer/producer has talked to some children and a psychologist about the effect of bad nicknames.

A girl, Sara resident of Kabul city says:

My brother’s name is Abdul Qudus but at home, we call him black and his classmates also call him black. As usual, one-day when I called him black, he became angry and broke a glass of the window.

Another girl says: my cousin was very naughty and we had been calling him addicted boy. He was suffering from his nickname and finally, he joined some addicted boys and after sometimes he lost his life.

A psychologist, Sayed Noorjan Sadat says about the negative impacts of bad nicknames:

Those parents, who have no respect for their child personality or those, who express more love to their children, might give their children bad nicknames. Bad nicknames have a negative impact on child’s mental health; loss of self-confidence and stays away from the community.

When children commit improper work, parents should not insult them or give them bad nicknames, they should inform them of the negative consequences of his work and let them choose the right way.
