Hernia

A hernia is a tear in muscle or tissue that allows part of the insides to bulge out. It can be a bulge of an internal organ or intestines. Sometimes we can see the hernia, depending on its location and size. Certain activities can worsen the condition.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some patients and a physician about this disease.

Ubaidullah, a resident of Kabul city says, “In the beginning, I did know that I was suffering from hernia. It had a bad pain and swelling.”

A driver, Enayat, a resident of Kabul city says, “I am suffering from hernia and I sense a severe pain in my waist.”

Doctor Muhammad Hanif Tasal, a surgeon at one of the private hospitals in Kabul city says, “A hernia occurs when an internal part of the body pushes through a weakness in the muscle or surrounding tissue wall. A hernia usually develops between chests and hips. In many cases, it causes very few symptoms, although the patient may notice a swelling or lump in abdomen or groin. If not treated on time, the intestines might get red, block or tear.”

What do some people think about the causes of hernia?

How people prevent hernia?
