Writing Monograph before Ending Education

 Written by: Samira Haleemzai

Monograph after a course of study is considered necessary for the student to write and arrange it. A monograph is the achievement of students' study. Following the principles of the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan, after completing the university, each student chooses a subject according to his / her field and researches according to it.

Any student who writes and arranges his / her monograph, then he/she would be given a graduation certificate. But some graduates do not write their monographs right after graduation and this issue might cause some problems for them.

AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some graduates about this issue.

Ahmad, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “I am graduated from the faculty of economics but I have not gotten my educational documents due to not writing my monograph. They hired me in an office and they do not accept that I have studied the university and they pay salary like a high school graduate because I did not have written my monograph yet.”

Hajira Muhammadi, a resident of Parwan province says, “I am graduated from the faculty of law and political sciences but I have not written my monograph yet. Once I passed the job interview. They wanted me to handle my educational documents but as I had not written my monograph, the university doesn’t give me my documents and I could not get the job.”

Why some students do not write their monographs after graduation?

Ihsanullah, a resident of Parwan province says, “One reason for not writing monograph is the lack of subjects for monographs and also some students are not familiar with computer and they cannot prepare their monograph before graduation.”

Marghalara, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “Some students are indifferent to write a monograph. Some others could not find a subject for monograph and some others chose subjects for their monograph at the end of the last semester and they could not complete their monographs in a short time.”

How do some students find the solution for this issue?

Zahid Kheski, a resident of Siahgerd district, Parwan province says, “When I was the student of the eighth-semester student, our professor assigned us to write our monographs. I chose a subject for my monograph and started writing it. Whenever I was facing some problems, the professor was helping me. I was not able to type my monograph. One of my friends helped me with this issue and I completed my monograph before I graduated from university.”

Hewad rafat, a resident of Maidan-Wardak province says, “I am graduated from the faculty of journalism. When I started my eighth semester, I talked to those who were graduated before from the same faculty and they suggested writing my monograph before the end of last semester and after graduation, I got my educational documents without any problems.”
