Cruel to Animals

Zubair was a boy living with his family in a green village far from the city. One day Zubair was very distressed and he had been leaning against a tree near the village ground and watching that other boys were playing. One of his friends, Shafi came and asked the reason for his sadness. Zubair told him the whole story. Zubair said, “Last day I and my friend, Noman went out from homes into the village ground. We did not know what to play. I saw a dog at the corner of the ground.

I asked Noman to play with the dog. I and Noman collected stones and clods. I also took a big stick with me too and we were pushing the dog with our feet but the dog was not moving from its place. I and Noman were hitting the dog with stones and the dog was groaning. A passerby saw and he prevented us from cruelling the dog.

When the passerby went, we started to torture the dog again. The dog wanted to go but we were not let her. I strongly hit the dog with the stick. The dog attacked me and bit my leg and blood came from the wound. I and Noman cried. The passerby heard our crying. He came back and dressed my wound with a clean cloth and took me to the clinic. The doctor asked me about the signs of the dog and I told him. The doctor said that I am lucky that the dog was not mad otherwise my treatment was difficult.”

Shafi held Zubair’s hand and wanted him go home. When they were passing the village ground, the dog barked and she wanted to bite them but Shafi asked the dog to be calm, the dog went away. Zubair asked Shafi that why the dog went back. Shafi said that all animals know kindness and sympathy and added that he always gives bread to the dog and the dog is tamed and knows him.

Zubair reached home and he promised with himself that he would never torture animals anymore.
