Kidney infection

The kidneys are the important organs in the renal system. They help the body pass waste as urine. They also filter blood the before sending it back to the heart. Sometimes kidneys could be infected and the patient would face problems.


AEPO’s writer/producer has talked to some patients and a physician about this disease.
Shahnaz, a resident of Kabul city says: “I have only one kidney. I was suffering from kidney pain, back pain, and right foot pain. the test shows that my kidney is infected."
Shahperai, a resident of Bamyan province says: “I am suffering from back pain; my hands and feet are swollen.  When the physician visited me, he said that my kidneys are infected.”


Doctor Rohullah Faiz an internist in Jamhoriat hospital, Kabul city says: “Fever and chills, back pain, abdominal pain, frequent urination, urgent need to urinate, burning sensation at the time of expelling urine, the presence of pus and blood in the urine are the signs of kidney infection, if not treated on time, it might cause the failure of the kidneys.”
What do people think about the cause of kidney infections?


Ruqia, a resident of Paghman district of Kabul province says: “I was always busy at house chores and I was frequently going to urinate, and now I suffer from kidney infections.”
Juma Gul, a resident of Qarabagh district of Kabul province says that if children or adult drink contaminated water, they would face the problem of kidney infections.
Doctor Faiz says: “Bacteria that enter the urinary tract through the tube that carries urine from your body (urethra) could travel to the kidneys. This is the most common cause of kidney infections.


Not emptying the bladder after each intercourse and keeping the bladder full, might cause kidney infections.
How some people treat kidney infections at home?


Shahnaz, a resident of Kabul city, who suffers from kidney infections says: “I avoid eating rice, meat, beans, and peanuts and I eat vegetables and feel better.”
Abdul Momin, a resident of Mirbachacot district, Kabul province says: “I avoid fast foods and pickles.”


Semina, a resident of Farza district, Kabul province says: “I boil cherry stalks, corn silk and walnuts inner soft shell and then drink it and it reduces my pains.”
Doctor Faiz says: “Taking more liquids are required for people who are suffering from kidney infections. kidney infections require prompt medical attention. If not treated properly, could permanently damage kidneys or the bacteria might spread to the bloodstream and cause a lifetime-threatening infection.
