Overeating

When the month of Ramadan ends, Eid starts almost in all Muslim countries. In Afghanistan, most of the people prepare verities of fresh and dried fruits, cookies, cakes and dishes for Eid’s days. People go to each other houses and congratulate Eid.  Some people eat different fruits and dishes at once and at the result, they become ill.

The writer/producer of AEPO has talked to some people about overeating problem.

Joma Khan says: once after Eid prayers, I visited many houses of relatives and friends and ate different kind of fruits and other edibles. In the evening, I felt pain in my stomach and later, I suffer from food poisoning and spent all the three days of Eid in a hospital.

Enayatullah, an internist at one of Kabul city hospitals says:

During Ramadan, the stomach is almost empty and does not work normally. While one eats too much foods or fruits on the first day of Eid, the stomach would not be able to digest all foods at once. At the result, the patient would face vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache, fever and pain in kidneys.

Physicians advise that people should avoid eating different (sweet and spicy) foods and fruits at once. It would be better to take some tea or other liquids at the first day of Eid or eat a little food three or four times a day.
