: Thief of Carrots

 Written by Nasratullah Samim

Once upon a time, there were three rabbits White, Gray and Yellow living with other rabbits and animals in a big jungle.

Once a fire took place in the jungle and nothing edible was found. One day the elder rabbit asked all the rabbits to go around and bring something for eating.

Gray and White returned happily and said to the elder that they have found a large farm of carrots. Another group of rabbits said that they have brought some lettuce. The elder divided the cabbages first and then went with White and Gray to divide the carrots.

Next day, Gray came crying and said that her carrots were stolen during the night. White said that he also faced the same problem. when Elder rabbit heard their complaint, said that someone has stolen his carrot too.

Elder ordered them to find the thief, but a heavy rain and flood did not let them go and find the thief. Elder asked the rabbit to bring shovels and throw some soil in front of each house of rabbits to prevent the flood.

When the turn reached to White’s house, he denied digging soil from his house yard, elder rabbit ordered to dig the soil. They found the stolen carrots in white’s house yard. The white’s brother said that his brother obliged him to hide the carrot under the ground for their winter.

The elder said that next day would be a big picnic and everyone could participate except White. White became very sad. A piebald rabbit arrived and said that a goat has taken carrots from her.

White was a very strong rabbit and promised to bring carrots back from goat. She chased the goat and a minute or two, he returned with carrots. Piebald rabbit became very happy and asked the elder to forgive White. Elder rabbit forgave White and let him participate in the picnic. White promised that he would no longer steal anything.
